Please first attend to the pigeon’s water and food needs—as outlined below. Water
Most lost pigeons are hungry and thirsty. Water is necessary before anything else. Water in a container should be at least 3 cm deep. A thirsty bird may not drink immediately because it is tired and disorientated. If so, try to entice the bird to drink by making a splashing sound with the water.

Food
Pigeons are grain eaters so please do not offer them bread. If available try feeding the bird with something from around the house, e.g. popcorn, dry peas, wheat, buckwheat, barley, canary seed, etc. These grains should be raw. Pigeons always drink immediately after eating so please also provide water when they feed.

For keeping the bird, a cardboard box with air holes cut out of the sides will do.
