Inducted for his racing success and his long participation as the VHA’s reliable and highly respected Clock Chairman. Each year the VHA holds the Peter Ainsworth Memorial Special Ring Race.


Inducted for sustained service in the VHA’s transportation of race birds, his service as a member of the Liberation Committee, his personal excellence as a participant, and his considerable skill and expertise during the 2004 truck crash.


Winner of six VHA Federation races, and twice winner of the VHA Old Bird Aggregate. Grenville was recognised for his considerable assistance to new flyers, and introduced to Australia—and Victoria in particular—pigeons which raised the standard of racing in this state.


Winner of eight Federation races, and a formidable opponent in his time in the sport. Among his wins were the Produce, the ‘500’, the ‘600’, and Hobart—he may well be the only flyer to have achieved that feat. He was twice winner of the VHA Old Bird Aggregate.


Inducted for his sustained excellence in racing pigeons within the VHA which established him as a very successful small-team flyer. Winner of nine VHA events, and the Old Bird Aggregate. The quality of his birds was outstanding and they were highly sought after.


Inducted for sustained excellence in building a formidable long-distance family of pigeons recognised throughout Australia, and his vigorous mentoring of many young flyers who remain as members of various clubs.


John won his first Federation race in the mid-1960s and went on to win several Federation races including a Produce.


Inducted for his long service in executive roles in the VHA, including 11 years as Secretary. This period included substantial input to the acquisition of the Notting Hill headquarters. Stephen played a significant role in repatriating birds after the truck crash of 2004. He has also provided long-time service at the club level, and has a highly successful racing career which includes eight Federation wins including the Produce and 500 and 600 mile races.




Inducted for his considerable racing skill, and his contribution over a long period to the conduct of the VHA and its assets.


Known throughout Australia for his high quality pigeons, John quickly became a benchmark within the Federation. Among his successes, he won the Young Bird Derby, the Produce, and the Old Bird Aggregate in the relatively short time in which he participated. In 1954 he won consecutive races from Narromine (644 km) and Coonamble (824 km). In 1960 won the Produce and the Coonamble National (824 km). Each year the VHA presents the Mifsud Trophy to the winner of the Produce race.


Inducted for his considerable racing success, and his significant, respected leadership when VHA president. Each year the VHA presents the Jack Moody Trophy to the winner of the Old Bird Aggregate.


Eric was one of the great administrators of the VHA and officiated as President (1949-1955 and 1958-1967). He was one of the truly great pigeon flyers in the history of the VHA and won several Federation races over the era 1930-1970. Each year the VHA presents the Eric Nancarrow Trophy to the winner of the first 500 mile race.


President of the VHA for thirteen years (1968-1980), and also a very successful participant, winning six Federation events and several positions. He also won the Old Bird Aggregate and the Combined Aggregate.


Glenn was a long-time club official and the winner of ten VHA Federation races. He won the Old Bird Aggregate on three occasions, a feat matched only by two other flyers.


Inducted for his sustained excellence in racing within the VHA over a long period, his generosity towards new flyers, country clubs and associations, and his preparedness to donate his time and expertise in the education of other flyers.


VHA auditor for many years, winner of seven Federation races, the Old Bird Aggregate, and three 500 mile races plus others in a long and distinguished career.


Inducted for his excellence in long distance racing, his subsidising of the longer-distance events, and his contribution to the building of VHA transporters still in use.


A popular ambassador for the VHA, always ready to help all flyers, especially new entrants to the sport. A successful flyer, he counted the Coonamble National (824 km, year 1954) and the Carrieton National (837 km, year 1959) among his successes.


Inducted for his excellence in pigeon racing, and his preparedness to assist to promote the sport in an educational capacity.


Inducted for his sustained excellence in racing pigeons within the VHA over a long period, and his preparedness to donate his time and expertise in the education of other flyers within the VHA and the sport in general.



President of the very strong Springvale club for many years, but primarily recognised for his racing success. He remains the most prolific winner of Federation events, and on two occasions won four events in one season. In 1999 he won two Young Bird events, including the Derby, and two Old Bird events, including the Produce, a feat which may never be repeated. His family of Wetering Delbars became famous throughout Australia.


John was the winner of sixteen VHA Federation races of which seven were at 500 miles. Aside from being a champion flyer, Yatesy was an outstanding ambassador for the VHA and for pigeon racing. He is a 50 year VHA member, and served on the Liberation Committee for several years. John was President, Vice President and Delegate of the Plenty Homing Club, and served on the Diamond Valley Centre Clock Committee for several years. He was a fantastic club man and a genuine good bloke.
